Advice On Cobra
I own a 1997 ford mustang cobra which I will have paid off this summer. There is a nice twin turbo kit i have had my eye on for a while. The problem is,I have owned the car for almost two years and I still can't drive it smoothly.I get into other manuals andi can drive them just fine. This is thecar that I learned on too, which makes it even moreupsetting. The clutch is really heavy and clumsy. I have asked a few people who have pretty much told me that there isnt much I can do about that.
I have also had my eye on a Nissan 350Z.I have driven a few. I met a really nice salesman who let me driveone last friday for about 45 minutes around town and on the interstate. It got to the point i could hardly feel it shifting. it was so neat and smooth. I really like the car.
I dont like the idea of dumping about 8000 dollars into a turbo kit if i cant drive the car when it makes a measly 300 horse..
I wont be trading the Cobra in, or selling it. I dont see alot on the road, and actully just plan to keep it forever.
So if you own a Cobra like mine.. and have some advice.. please let me know.... I am also going to post this on a 350Z board to see what kind of opinions they give me.
Thanks in Advance!

RE: Advice On Cobra
If the clutch doesn't engage smoothly, something's wrong. If you're going to add major horsepower, you're going to need a new clutch sooner rather than later anyway. You might as well have the clutch redone with a stronger unit (see above post) and make sure to have the flywheel resurfaced or replaced. My money is on your flywheel being warped (probably due to your learning to drive a stick in the car) and that your problem will go away when this is addressed.

RE: Advice On Cobra
there's no way an $8,000 turbo kit will give you only 300hp when you have 305bhp stock. I wouldnt spend 8g on any power adder b/c i think thats a rip, but thats me. I have driven two 96 Cobras and both were extremely easy to drive, so maybe you do need a new clutch.
