Oil on spark plugs

RE: Oil on spark plugs
Does the motor still run? And are the plugs covered with oil after the car has been run and let cool off? Or just sitting around? Could be bad valve guides and/or seals. How bad does the car smoke when its running?

RE: Oil on spark plugs
Is it the stock motor? Is your driveway on a hill? The reason i ask is that I know some cars the engine is tilted upwards, so when you shut it off oil settles to the back of the heads. I know on 3rd Gen Camaro's this is big problem. This oil tends to collect so it smokes a little.
A good way to diagnose real quick is to change the plugs, and drive the car. As long as it runs ok, just wait until next tuen up or mayeb halfway point. When you go to change plugs, mark the porcelin insulators with a sharpie, then pull them out. This way you know how the plugs were oriented. If the entire plug is covered in oil all the way around, its rings. If one side has oil, then it may be a bad valve guide seal. The mark helps orient the plug and figure out where the oil is comming from.
