Default Air Filter Advice

Do you have to oil a BBK air filter like the K&N air filters when you wash them? And when you wash a filter is all you do rinse it from the inside with low-pressure water?

~Thanks

K&NFilterInstructions I assume it'd be the same with any reusable filter.

Depends on the filter construction. If it's a cotton-gauze (K&N, et al) or foam, then it needs a bit of oil to actually trap the dirt. If it's a nano-fiber filter (Amsoil), then you don't need oil.

If it's paper, just throw it away. Now. It's crap.

With oil based filters, be careful about how much oil you put on the filter. It will find its way to the MAF sensor and destroy your gas mileage.
