Default Help on locating part

Hi- new member here and new to the Mustang engine too! I need to find the EGR valve to clean it- my fault code said P0401 and the guy told me I probably need to clean it, which sounds better than buying a new one for $50 and having someone else do it for even more $$. Can someone post a pic of where this thing is and maybe shed a little light on how to get to it, clean it, and safelyt put it back together?

Thanks!!

Not knowing what car or engine you have, it's kind of difficult. If you have a fuel injected 5.0, the EGR is on the firewall side of the upper intake manifold, just behind the throttle body.

Good point- I have a 2001 Mustang...not a GT or Cobra, just the entry level pony.

It's the round black thing just to the lower left of center in this picture with the XL3E-...... part number on it.

Thanks! I'll see if I can take a look at it tomorrow morning and get it clean. Any suggestions or advice on how to get it working so the Service Engine light will clear?
