Hey guys,long time no see I have a 2001 Mustang GT 4.6 Liter. I drive this car almost every day so its used on the Highway alot. I need some help I wanna run with my Big brothers Since I cant do any major Mods because its a everyday car worried about the wear and tear of my car. I need some help and some safe mods for my 4.6 I know I cant run with the 03,04 Cobra's but would like to run or run by the 99,01's. My mod list includes soon to come is BBK Cold Air intake, True Flow Upper intake Pleanum, 75 Mass meter Throttle body, Bassani Catback Exhaust Kit and a Pair of BBK long tube Headers.Will I be able to compete with the Ricers and the Other Pony's? And I was also thinking about Gears down the road.Dont Laugh its a Automatic Gear Box UCK I KNO but would 3:73's do me any help without killing the Gas Milage so much Since i drive it alot?Give me all your Feelings on my Car PLEASE HELP ME AND MY STANG!!!!!!

With an automatic I would go with the 4.10's if not 4.30's. Those are the best for the auto's. You will need a little more than just those mods to run with a 99-01 cobra though. Look into a set of cams also. That will go good with the new intake. Get a good tune and you should be running good.

This is why automatics suck when you are looking for fuel economy. 3.73's/4.10's will significantly affect your gas mileage with your slushbox. I'd say you can look for upwards 10-20 miles less a tank...

Looks like you got a good setup there. Best gears for you are 4.10s, even though they will affect your fuel economy. Those gears will definitely help your acceleration, and would go well with a set of street tires. That should definitely put you in the heat of the competition against your bros. If that still doesnt work, look into getting a Hypertech or Diablosport Programmer and have some professionals dyno tune it. Best of luck.

yeah get the 4.10's. you will be unhappy having 3.73's with the automatic. Get a good shift kit/reprogramming kit along w/ the gears and you WILL be running with the 5 speeds. I was kinda bummed out about not having a stick, but now I'm happy cuz i am not always shifting and when i mash it, it shifts just as hard or harder! I have lost a few mpg in fuel economy, but hey its a performance car!

I agree with all you guys, however it does come down to the driver, at least in this case hopefully the other drivers are running manual trans and they aren't that good. For it won't be too difficult, mash the gas pedal and you're off. Not too much concentration on your part where as they have to do a little more. I've beaten several cars that should have blown me away, but if they can't shift then it's their loss, not mine.
