Replacing front speakers
I dont really know anything about cars..but I have 460 mach speakers..i dont have the original stereo..(this car used to be my stepsisters and she had the stereo replaced) my passenger door speaker is completely blown but my drivers side only has bass and it sounds bad..it rattles and gets worse the longer i listen to music..i think it might be almost blown itself (but i am not quite sure if it just might be messed up) but the music itself doesnt come out of this speaker just bass.. in conclusion i want to replace JUST these 2 speakers..i have asked best buy and they say i have to rewire and replace all the speakers but i dont want to do that..is it possible to just replace these 2 speakers? and if so what should i replace them with seeing as i dont know anything about car audio.. THANKS :]

RE: Replacing front speakers
Of course you can replace those speakers. Your best bet is to go to Ford for replacements though, as the Mach system is all 2 ohm (almost all aftermarket stuff is 4 ohm) so you need replacement 2 ohm speakers.
Is the head unit factory? If it is then you NEED 2 ohm speakers. If it's an aftermarket replacement you'll probably have to replace ALL the speakers with 4 ohm speakers like the BestBuy guy said.

RE: Replacing front speakers
is the head unit the stereo? bcz the stereo is not factory its an alpine..but the speakers are still factory mach 460s.. so does that mean i still need to replace all 6 speakers and have the whole thing rewired?

RE: Replacing front speakers
Yes the head unit is the sterio, and if yours is an Alpine then that means it's probably not fully compatible with the speakers in your car, IF the car has the Mach audio speaker & amp system. Chances are it will play, but a 4 ohm headunit will likely overload the amp & speakers especially if you crank it up.
Sounds like you have a basket case of parts.. and kinda tough to give advice because I really don't know what sort of musical surgery the car has gone through. If the car had a complete Mach audio system and JUST the head unit was replaced with the Alpine, then I'd recommend you get another factory head unit (from the wreakers, cheaper there) because you really CAN'T just change only the deck. It's all or nothing with the Mach system
