jd, where can you get 3.90's? I haven't seen them for sale. what rpm's can i expect on the hwy say at 75?? I def want a good push increase. is it pretty tough on the car running 3.90's on hwy??

I would personally go with the 3.90's Not as bad in RPM's as 4.10's on the highway but more push than the 3.73's.

Just my opinion....I WOULD NOT do 3.90's, go with the 4.10's, you'll be much happier.

My black car has 4.10's and my silver one has 3.73's. I have a friend with an '01 GT with the same mods as my silver one. His car seems to fall on its face in the middle gears (second and third). Like I said it's my opinion...I think the 3.90's aren't enough grunt for off the line and just don't seem to consistently pull hard through the gears.

Just curious...I have an 04 GT manual and do drive on the hwy (not alot) but was wondering what kinda increase in rpm's i would see, say cruisin at 75 with the 3.55 and 3.73...stock 3.27 i'm at 2k....i heard 300 rpm increase per step up so that would be about 2600rpms at 75 with 3.73's..sound right??? I do want more aggressive gears, don't want to beat my stang into the ground, but a 600 increase isn't that bad huh? hell my old BMW was at atleast 3k with stock gears at 75...i drive about 30 miles on the hwy about 3 times a week and drive about 360 mi (round trip) to see fam and friends about once a month...I'm leaning towards 3.73's...thoughts??
At 65 mph with 3.73's, I am at 3100 rpms.

My buddy has 4.10's in his car... '00 GT 5 spd and when he is cruising on the highway at 80mph he is running 3000rpms. Thats a LOT of gas getting sucked down. My other buddy has 3.90 and at 80mph he is running about 2600 rpms at 80mph and still has a really good push behind them.

You can get 3.90's from most any performance site. They dont fall under the 3.27's, 3.55's, 3.73's, or 4.10's. They always are seperate and are about $20 more than the 4.10's. They are probably the best all around gear for those of us who drive the highway a lot.

I was going to get them put in last week but I was in Dallas for a few Active Duty soldiers who died in Iraq so I had to cancel the order and the guy said it would take a week to get the gears in so it probably wont be done till after the meet now. [&o]

I like my 3.73's. When the bigger mods start pouring in, good luck getting traction with the 4.10's on street tires. Just my opinion.

At 65 mph with 3.73's, I am at 3100 rpms.
You must have a 4spd auto.

Nope, 5 speed. I may be wrong. But yesterday I was talking to a friend who is getting gears put in today and he was asking what the rpms were at 65 mph, I sped up and could have sworn it was 3100. I will look again.
