Default '95 GT convertible engine question

Hey Guys, I need a little help here. I just got a 95 Mustang GT convertible as a gift. Needs a serious amount of work, but it runs so that's a start. And the price is right!

Problem for today - Standing on the passenger side looking at the engine, there's a tube coming out of the block right behind the exhaust manifold. It comes toward the fenderwell about an inch then curves up about four inches or so and then curves forward about 2 inches. Tube is about 1/2 inch in diameter. This tube is blocked off with rubber hose and a spark plug.

There's another rubber hose close by, about the same size blocked off with a spark plug. This hose comes back from what looks likea vacuum sensor of some kind, maybe 8 or 10 inches forward.

Question - are these supposed to be connected at all, either by a straight piece of hose or a couple hoses with some other piece in between?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know.
What comes out if you take the plug out and start the engine?
What is the other end of the other hose connected to?
Trace the hoses and repost,I'm sure someone here can help.

Picture would be useful, too. Photobucket is a good hosting site.

Sounds like an auto tranny dipstick tube, but could be something else.
