Default engine and tranny swap

ok... well seeing my thunderbirds tranny is gone....maybe i could do what ive been wanting to do to it....engine and tranny swap. I wanna ptu a v8 in it, and a standard transmission. What would bne the best v8 for a 92 thunderbird, and would i be able to find an engine and a tranny cheaper than say liek $5500? Because if not, then im just going to buy a mustang

any other suggestions would be great also...THANKS!

Best thing to do is go to the junk yard and find a good 351 block for pennies and buy a good rebuild kit for it. Thats what I would do. But then again the Mustang is a good idea also.

What are you looking to do with the Thunderbird. Keep it as a reliable family car or blow it into a all out muscle car?

honestly... i want it to be all muscle. And that car woukld be a sleeper with the v8, because all v8 thunderbirds are marked wit ha v8 tab and this one wouldnt be, and id also attempt to supercharge it, making it practically a super coupe, and no one woudl know because it says lx on the back

If you do end up with a killer motor, check your rearend to be sure it's going to be rugged enough for it. If you have a V6 in there, chances are you have a light duty rear end, and almost certainly not a posi.

If it were me, I'd start looking for a Mustang. And a tranny to put the T-Bird back on the road as my general get around car.
