Default Heater

It just got cold in Mid GA and I found out this morning on my way to school that the heater SUCKS! Is this a common problem with Fox cars? And does anybody have any suggestions? It was a thirty minute drive and was still COLD when I got to school...

Fox bodies are usually very hot with the heaters. You either have some heater duct work not working or the thermostat is stuck open. Did the engine temp go up?

On my 89 GT I had to go through 2 thermostats in 1 year.
"Always buy the expensive one".
You can tell if it is working by:
Starting cold and closely watching T gauge.
In 5 minutes it should start to rise.
It should go to just below the 270 and (like overheating)
Then it should drop pretty fast to mid range.
At this point you should have heat.

I've had 4 Stangs so far, & good heaters in all of them. You must be having a problem with yours

You should have heat well before the thermostat is shown to open on the temp gauge. Even 100* fluid going through the heater core will provide warmth. I'm usually turning down the heat when the gauge reads 150*.

The temp gauge works fine and the motor doesn't run too hot or cold. I haven't had much time to look at cause my hours at work. I'll take a look at the ducts this weekend. Thanks for the tips

sounds like it could be the heater core. If thats the problem, only way I know of to replace it is to pull the dash out.

If they motor isn't overheating, and the heater blower motor is working fine (you can hear it, right?) Maybe the hot/cold flapper valve is either stuck or the cable leading to it is broken. Or yea the heater core might be clogged
