tailights
ok, so i replaced the bulbs, fuses, and taped uo all the wiring in the radio compartment. i do not have a radio so the wires were all loose, so i taped them up with electrical tape. then i repalced the fuses that correspond to all that good stuff. the wiring harness in the trunk looks good along with all the wires themself. any help please.
I assume the tails are not working.
You have to get a volt meter or indicator bulb and work the
wiring harness back from the tails to where the voltage
is seen when the lights are on.
Usually a wire gets pinched passing through the
body. If all lights are out it is something to
do with the grounds.

thanks. in order to check the tailight wires do i have to take out the seats in the car to get under the carpet. i know that the wires from the left and right meet up in the center so in order to get to them ill have to pick the seats up right. or no?
On a large obstruction like the seats
I would check the wiring at the
dashboard. You can use a voltmeter
with a straight pin attached to one
lead.
Other lead connected to good ground,
stick the pin into one of the wires and
worki all lites. If you are good up to there
the meter will show 12 volts when lite on.
Found a problem on my gm between the seat floor and
the rear harness. solved it by adding an additional
wire to bypass the open.
If all lites are out it seems to point to a harness disconnect
like the bulkhead connector.

ok so if i check the light switch on the dash console im testingwith thevoltage meter right. so im guessing im putting the voltage meter inside the light switch were the wires for the tailights would connect to. if that gives off no signal then im guessing its the switch that is bad. now if it does ill jsut work my way through the wires to the break in power which can be a pain in the ***.
do any of your other lights work?
what year is your car?
the only suggestion I have that the other members havn't made already is try switching out the voltage regulator. It looks like a little silver box that on fox-bodies is mounted in the inner fenderwell on the right side. It doesnt cost more than 10 dollars...
