Default What determines "points" on a roll cage?

Can somebody explain the difference between, say an 8pt and a 12pt cage?

Thanks

Chassis mounting points.

Cage regs are more than mounting points though. Crossbars and such have to be in certain places in relation to the driver and such. Depending on where you race the rules are strict and complex or pretty laid back all the way to non-existant.

The faster the car is the more "points" the rules will dictate. 4 and 6 point are really refered to as roll bars as they don't have a halo loop above the driver. Basicly a point is anyplace the bar touches the floor, frame or chassis.
You can get an idea from this.

Take that 10 point and extend two bars through the fire wall and have them tie into the front frame rails and you have a 12 point.
