Default Better Brakes = Better Launch?

Let me know if I'm right on my theory here....

This applies to auto's only.

Since I have 18" wheels I can fit farely large brakes back there. If one were to get said upgraded brakes, bigger calipers, rotors, hi-po pads, would this hold the wheel in place enought to get another 400rpms or so before spinning?

It's attempting to do the same thing as a higher stall, but on a budget.

So, does better rear breaks = better launch?

It'll probably make a difference so minimal you'd never notice it. If you pay for a complete brake job, that could possibly come out to be the same or even more expensive than a converter install.

I'd do it myself and it would just be the rear brakes. I figure anything less than another 400rpms or so would be a waste. For the $1,200 that a converter costs, would a PI upgrade be a better idea or a higher stall?

A PI upgrade is easily the best thing you can do for your car. You have higher compression stock, just a PI head & cam swap alone could break you into the high 13's with your automatic. The higher compression will help squeak out a few more ponies, but won't be all that friendly to boost.

You would want to go all 4 corners if you upgrade the brakes. Your *** end would slide out anytime you had to stop quickly. On the street, you want your brake bias to be much stronger in the front than the rear. It just doesn't make any sense to do it.

All I needed to hear!

Once I do gears and see about a side exhaust I'll look into the $1300 headswap kit and another $500 or so for cams.

THE CONVERTOR would be the way to go..don't know how you got 1200 for it..a shift kit/chip and the convertor and cooler will help your launches to about .25 sec ... learn to plant the power you have first

Thanks man.... I suppose I'll call around and see how much the install would run me....

I think gears are going to be close to $500, so as long as the install isn't more than $300 (I think it will be) I should be ok.

P.S. Can one switch out magnaflows for magnapacks using the same tubing/clamps or do they have different case legnths?

Thanks.
