I have a 79 f 150 jsut for the winter and i was wondering how much trouble would it be to transfer it over to 4 wheel drive, maybe from junk yard parts. im lookin to stay cheep
You would have to have the entire drivetrain and suspension from a donor truck. Transmission, transfer case, drive shafts, front and rear ends, as well as the whole front end suspension and steering system. Yes, it can be done. No, it doesn't make any sense, unless you happen to have a truck sitting around with a bad body that you could just swap everything from.
let's see a few pic's details, i have a 83 ford ranger 4x4 or a 85 ford broncoII 4x4 i might swap . if interested let me know. i need a full size truck to do a few tows with. i dont care what it looks like. as long as engine, trans are ok. leserz@hotmail.com

RE: 1979 f 150
Frame Difference...That's the biggest prob on Ford trucks with the change over.
1976-1979 Love those Bodystyles.
I've owned more of those than I can count.
