well i had a t5 that started grinding on 2nd gear then third, that was caused by a messd up rebuild +wrong fluid, but since it being reverse only i dont see it afecting foward gears, justtake it easy when going backwards, more than likely you will loose it soon!!!!!!!!![sm=boohoo.gif]

If you hear the grinding while reversing and not when putting the shifter into reverse, sounds like the reverse idler gear is shot.

You're gonna have to get that fixed anyway so get it fixed soon. Someday a few teeth might get sheared off that gear & work their way into the forward gear mesh & destroy the whole tranny.. I'd recommend not waiting for that to happen..

The t-5's are notorious for synchro issues. It'll need to be rebuilt or replaced soon. I was lucky enough to shear my input, counter, and output shaft all at once, and i burnt 1st, 2nd, and 5th gear. This happened on the interstate in cruise at 70mph. I got a brand new take-out from LKQ in Houston for $600.
