Default Brakes?

After driving about 15 minutes my mustang acts up in a weird way. Once I come to a stop the car seems to stick and doesn't roll even in neutral. It feels like the parking brake is on. Has anyone else had this problem? 00' GT convertible Thanks

Do you use your e-brake everytime you park? If that's the case, the rear brakes may have set in a tighter position. I've read somewhere that disc brakes by design touch the rotors a bit, so constantly using the e-brake could get it "stuck". If you live in a cold climate, the pads could in theory get frozen onto the rotors.

In general, I find it a good practice to use the e-brakes only to park on inclines, in conjunction with transmission "braking" of course.

I live in CT and I do use the e-brake when I park. I don't drive it as much as I should due to the weather so thanks for the reply.

Alot of people are having this issue with their S197 cars. The E-brake is freezing, especially if you use it alot. I never use mine, never had an issue. I've seen many people on this forum and others talking about it. Search around on the forums and you may find a post for your year. Good luck.

If you live in one of the colder areas it could be your brake fluid is freezing.I know this sounds strange but if you haven't changed the brake fluid and it soaks up enough water that is one of the things that can happen.I had this happen with a motorcycle I once owned so I know it can happen.
If the fluid is anything but clear in the reservior it is water contaminated and needs to be changed.

yup, had the same issue along with an E-brake that was unusually hard to pull up. Then I ripped it off the floor accidently... hehe
