Default Straight-Six swap?

Has anyone heard of swapping a Ford EFI 300ci I6 into a New Edge SN95?

It depends on how much power can be gotten out of that powerplant, but basically...it's unique. Also, straight 6s have great powerbands, from what I hear. Theoretical stages right now.

Straigh 6'rs are very looonnnnggg motors,, not sure if an SN95 engine bay has the space

And, straight 6'rs might have sturdy bottom ends & maybe even decent power potential, but they sound like crap

I dunno, BMWs and Supras sound pretty good, but I do hear it takes good exhaust tuning. I like that metallic scream at high RPM. Problem is, the only Ford-ish I6 available that makes good power is the 360hp Barra 270 T (Turbo)....in Australia. 300 I6s can be found in F series trucks as late as 96 but I believe they only made 150hp out the box.

they have tons of torque. more than a5.0 and 4.6 but no power what so ever. like around 140-150 wheel at best. they last forever too. but like it was stated that they are long motors wont fit, they have no parts to them, and they are heavy.

is it gonig in an SN95 or is it gonig in a New Edge? Two completely dfferent styles. SN95 = 1994 - 1998. New Edge = 1999 - 2004.

My truck is a 300. I don't rev past 3800 and it makes great torque all the way up there. I gutted my second cat put on a turbo muffler and it sounds okay. It is unique. Also there are a TON of them out there, and you can get aftermarket heads and stuff. They are super tough too. Easily one of the strongest motors Ford ever made. And VERY easy to work on. Everything is right there. But I don't know if it's right for a car. They only put them in trucks for a reason. You would have to do some work to let it rev higher to get any real power gains. Mine is rated 145 factory, and it's a 96. If you want info try "ford-trucks.com" and go into the "300" section.

It would cost you twice as much money to get equal power from that I6 as a V8. This is a huge waist of time and money IMO. Screw unique, go for what makes the most power for the least amount of $$

If you want something unique, get a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter engine and fit that inside the engine compartment.they have about420 hp for take off and 370shaft HP available for continuous cruisingand they sound like HE!! on earth.

Jay leno had one in a bike and said it was awesome. It was like being pushed along by a giant hand.Fuel capacity was about five gallons, and the range was enough to find another gas station that sold kerosene or diesel.
