Default Noob needs info on gt500

I've searched and can only find a few referenced dyno's of the gt500 (two to be exact). Is it true it gets about 450rwhp? And if so, how does it keep the drivetrain loss to such a minimal (10%)?? This may sound like a completely ignorant/noob question, but I've been out of the mustang scene for 15+ years, so take it easy on me please.

doesnt sound right to me... depends on which dyno was used as well? a mustang dyno shows lower than the Dynojet... my tuner stated to me most cars lose 15 -20 % from flywheel to RW. I'm making 434 @ the wheels with a Vortech and custom tune... So I'm probably around 500-510 @ the flywheel. And that is on a Mustang Dyno.... the dynojets show about 10% more than the MD....

hope this helps a bit

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. I lost around 19% when I dyno'd my car and that was high, but I have irs so I wasnt surprised. Does the gt500 have irs or the solid rear? I was thinking either the referenced dyno's were wrong or Ford seriously underrated the 5.4. I tried to search this answer out, but I think I'm sorely lacking when it comes to computer skills, I didn't find anything here, and only a few references elsewhere.

Fairly certain the rear is the same as the stock GT

By the way, sweet numbers on your GT. I bet you surprise more than a few with that set-up

Yeah, with those numbers you can do some damage. I just can't ever get a vette or porsche owner to go, like they don't think anyone else is worthy. Rice-a-roni are always a San Francisco treat though (Suba's, Mitsu, Honda's, etc).

It is an IRS but with better shocks and springs than the gt, oh abd bigger brakes as well. Go to this website and they dyno tuned the GT500 and they agree with you that it was seriously underrated and tuned for engine safety. http://www.alternativeauto.com/prods...elby_tune.html hope it helps J

The gt500 was underrated from the factory. Im sure that it has about 15-17% drive train loss just like everyone else!
