Suspension Components
Is there a good place I can go, or someone can point me to, that is a good resource to start to learn and really understand all the suspension components and how they work together? I really don't understand most of it, and I know how important it can be to focus on these areas at some point. Thanks in advance!
You will learn a lot from the people over at MM ( http://www.maximummotorsports.com/) Just give them a call and tell them what you want the car to do, what horsepower you want out of it and what gears you will be running along with weight, year, and rim/tire sizes.
They will work around those features of your car to build a suspension setup that will most best fit your needs.
They have complete street and comp setups with everything you will possibly need to make you stang handle like a top.
If I am not mistaken, I think they are at the absolute top of their game in the Mustang world, an iconic leader in handling.

They do have a pretty comprehensive line of suspension components. I know that they build a lot of different cars for different classes, which means that they should have a pretty wide variety of available components.
The fact that they have been pretty successful in different classes shows that they have a bunch of knowlege, I am sure that they can point you in the right direction.
If you are looking for general resources trying to understand how suspensions work, I would honestly look at amazon for books about it. There are a ton of different guides out there on what does what, the different types of suspensions such as double wishbone, McPhearson, 4-link, live axle, independent...etc. You can learn the ins and outs of the components, their functions, and their overall impact on the suspension and car handling dynamics.
The more that you learn about this stuff, the better off that you are going to be. Not only will you understand the true impact of the modifications that you want to do, you can learn what to mod and what not to. It will show you how you can tailor the suspension to your driving style, how you are going to use the car, etc.
Hope that helps.
