The anti freeze smell could be coming from the weep hole in the water pump. It's there to let you know that the seal is bad and the pump needs replaced.Look for stains around this hole.Sometimes it's on the top of the pump and sometimes it's on the bottom. This job takes about 30 mins.

I hope you mean looking for a leak takes about 30 minutes cause you sure as h**l ain't going to change the water pump on a 5.0 that quick! don't think it would be any easier on a 4.6 either but I ain't never done one on a 4.6 so I'm not sure.

I was having the same problem with the coolent smell and coulndt find a leak anywhere on the coolant system. I took it to Ford and the put a pressure test kit on it and it held so many pounds for about an hour and a half. They said the coolant may be old and needing a change. I changed it and the smell was all gone.

P.S. Change it yourself... Ford dealers want like $150.00 just to turn a valve and let it drain and refill it. LOL@Ford!

ok the radio can be fixed with a noise reducer, a wire in device the keeps electric interferance from effecting your radio old technology to say the least. The Smell can be several things. One you thermaste is not opening and your overheating. 2 you have a leak in your heater coil, three your water pump is shot. Four you leaking out of one of the radator or heater hoses connectors and boiling off on contact. keep your eye on the guages and the water level.
