If your engine is "mostly" stock then you will not overpower your rear gears

Your top speed when racing (at WOT) is going to be determined by your gears and your tire size. You're not going to blow out the gears or the tires. You'll redline long before you do any damage to the rear end. I'm not sure what your tire size is, but my stock tires with 3.73 gears will cause me to redline in 3rd gear (1:1 ratio) at ~118 or so MPH. Anything past that and I'm into teh red and closing in od the rev limiter. Of course, that's at WOT. It's different when slowly accelerating because I would be able to use 4th gear then (which is something that you're not gonna do when at WOT.)

What do you mean by "blow the gears?" You aren't going to damage teh gears you have in there unless youhave some very unusual circumstances. They're not even close to the weakest link.

he was probly low on fluid or something like that to lock up the rear end, or maybe a bearing seized. as stated above gears are definatly not the weak link!
