Default Header and Exhaust heat socks used w/ ceramic headers.

Hey Everyone;
We have all seen those head socks advertised in parts magazines and they claim that they can dramatically bring down heat radiation. They also claim a small percentage of efficiency because the heat is traveling through the system instead of outside through the metal.
My question is; Are they worth having on a set of headers and are they still worth having on Ceramic headers. What greater cause are they serving here?

I know that bringing down engine bay temps is a greater cause because there is less heat soak into the intake tube and intake manifold, as well as cooler fuel temperatures, that could translate into more horsepower and reliability but how much more and is it worth the extra cost and unsightly appearance of the socks or wrap?

Thanks again.

only problem with those is it contains the heat, therefor fatiguing the header material. It does it's job and brings down engine bay temps, but if you have a daily driver, ceramic will offer the performance your looking for

Alright, so its fair enough to say that for a Daily Driver using both would probably not be a good idea?

Thanks for the info, I want to try to bring as much service life out of my parts as I possibly can.

Thanks

Someone posted here a while back and said that header wrap will void any warranty on the headers.They also said that you could see the pattern of the weave of the wrap so there's no hiding it.I know this to be true.The weave pattern shows up like a sore thumb and it's unmistakeable.
