trans brake

RE: trans brake
A transbrake is basically something that lets you launch harder and closer to your powerband. When you activate your transbrake in your auto tranny, it puts the car in 1st and reverse at the same time. This essentially disengages the tranny (keeps it from moving the car.) Now that you know the car is not going anywhere, you can raise the RPM to a much higher level so that you can launch harder and closer to your pwoerband. Once you are ready to go, just release the brake and off you go like a bat out of hell.
Sometimes on Pinks you will hear them negotiate the transbrake and say that they can't use it. If you can't use the transbrake to launch, then you lose the ability to launch as hard and you have to worry about your car creeping forward as you try to hold your foot on the brakes while keeping your RPM up as much as possible without moving the car.
