front brakes locked up!!!!!
well i was driving to my buddies house and he lives about 10 minutes away in stop n go, when i started noticing that my front brakes were sticking while i was driving. i first noticed it after getting gas as i would roll up to a stop i would stop abruptly rather than roll into a stop. then i noticed that my brake pedal felt different and made a funny clicking noise when i would depress it all the way. i continued to drive anyway. it began getting worse. as i drove, my brakes were pulling the car so i had to drive in second gear. i pulled over and the pads were on fire and smoking bad. does any one have any answers to why this happened and how to fix it?

RE: front brakes locked up!!!!!
it was both the front brakes. the rear brakes were ok. someone told me it could be the proportioner that went bad and its send the wrong amount of fluid to the calipers. could this be it. after i led the fire from the brake pad go down and cool off a bit, i drove it and my brakes were freed up. now when i drive it up and down my street i can feel it starting to grab again when im stopping. please help. i dont like to see my stang in distress.

RE: front brakes locked up!!!!!
Don't soak it in gas, I understand it is not
a very good lubricant.
I would worry about the condition of the
rubber brake line.
You will need to push the caliper in.
Inspect the rubber piston boot.
Replace the pads.
Use brake grease on the rubbing metal
to metal parts.
Is it possible the pads haven't been changed
in a while and the pistons went out too far
and cocked?
