Default Fuel Gauge

Im new to the whole Mustang world. I just picked up an 87 GT with t-tops. the problems that im having are the fuel gauge is not reading properly. one minute its reading full, while i drive i see it moving down, then the next its reading empty. I know its empty now because i just ran it out of gas in the garage jus tin casei have to drop the tank. the secong problem that im having is when in reverse it jumps out of gear..any suggestions would be great..thanks in advance...

so just replace the whole fuel pump is what your saying?

Just replace the sender.

Jumping out of gear indicates internal transmission wear/damage.

ok...dropped the tank and there are 2 sending units...WTF is that? i have never seen anything like that...or are my eyes playing tricks on me? someone please tell me that my eyes are playing tricks on my and only 1 of them are the sending unit and the other is something else...

do it the mexican way... take a 5 gallon gas jug and put a hose into it to ur fuel pump

There's only one sending unit. It is in the thinner portion of the tank on the driver's side. The fuel pump is in the thicker portion of the tank on the passenger's side of the tank.
