Default shock question

This may be a stupid question but...whats the difference between shocks, springs, and coil overs? Also, 70/30s would be good front struts for a daily driver/some track right?

Default RE: shock question

The only stupid question is a question unasked

Springs support the suspension, shocks keeps the springs stable, coilovers are simply shocks with the springs mounted over them - opposed to a typical a-arm supsension where the springs are next to the shocks. And yea 70/30's are a good street/strip shock.

Default RE: shock question

Well springs and shocks are usually separate pices compared to coilovers which coilovers are one unit. With coilovers you have more
fine tuning ajustablity than that of just springs and shocks. Also with coilovers you have ride height adjustment so you can lower your car
to wear ever you want. A lot of race cars use coilovers. Good Luck,
