engine swap v6 to 5.0
Hi guys,
I recently stumbled into a '95 mustang with a blown up v6,the guy i got it from pulled the v6 with the intention of installing a 5.0 and never did. I am willing to take this project over and just want to know what I am in for. I need all the input i can get like is there an easy harness swap for efi or would it be easier to go old school carb?
Thanks in advance for any input,
Rusty

Welcome to MF. Do some surfing around this site, that topic seems to show up a LOT lol. If half the work has already been done so to speak, and you're finishing it off yourself, then it's a do-able project

welcome to MF
flat out with you, thats about equal to swaping in a 305 into a buick grand national, more displacement, but not matching the power,
first thing you could do, is swap in the motor from a tbird supercoupe, this will pretty much drop right in and only dual exhaust is needed, with stock 205 rubber and 2.73 open diff it will be good for about 14 flat, better gearing an lsd and good rubber and other stuff mid to low 13s, get the heads ported with a cam and high 12s to low 13s you will dyno around 200 rwhp and 300 rwft.lbs of torque

second thing you could do is get a 4.2 out of an f150, you will need to reuse your upper intake manifold off the 3.8 and the rest of it will drop in, this will get you about 225 HP and 255 ft.lbs of torque. about the same as an EFI 5.0 with a little less torque, that will drop right in vs, all the modifications you have to do
third thing, depending on money, do that 4.2 swap, get some eagal rods and some lower CR pistons, with a cam, roller rockers, and port the heads and either get an 11 psi procharger (can put about an 18 psi-22 psi pully on) from vmptuning.com should be good for low 11s. or, talk to andy from TMAturbo.com and get about a 25 psi turbo and it should be good for low 10s all this would cost about 7k if your doing it yourself, and you will not need a forged short block/crank like you would for a 302
or you can swap in the 302, deal with all the computer crap, the tranny, driveshaft, mounts, rear end etc and get 175-180 rwhp and 250ish rwft.lbs,
