sorta depends on where your from... but if yur on a limited budget u aint lookin for a 96-99. And cobras from that year can range from 15,000 to 20,000 and more. Your best bet is possibly a 96 gt...which u might be ablke to find for under 5 grandbut a post 98 is definately out of your range...ive been researching prices forever now and i suggest u do what im doing.. get a solid job and save every sent u make, it piles up quickly then when u get about 3 grand u have a nice solid base and possibly can con yur parents into getting a loan for u. Well good luck with that and let us all know what u get!

If you're 16, I suggest getting a fox body or a v6. The v8 is going to put your insurance up really high, and you probably won't find a price to fit into a limited budget. My 00 v6 is $209 a month for the car, plus $177 a month for insurance, and I'm 19. It had low miles, thus causing it to be more, but I had more to spend and I have a steady job.
You'll never find a cobra that is in decent shape and in your budget, plus the insurance on that would be RIDICULOUS for your age.
I suggest starting out with a v6, or maybe not getting a stang for your first car. Not all of us have glorious awesome stangs-- and it's not a bad thing to start out with a cheap import car or whatever. I had a ****ty first car, and finally I could get a stang I dreamed of.

Stangs have had bags since 90 ...good luck getting a 96-99 for $6k. I would sugest checking traderonline or maybe even ebay for a good foxbody which can be found for that price. If you want the 8 cylinder for that price foxbody is it.

You drive an hour each way to school everyday? Then don't buy a stang... Get a GTP or something that's a little better road car that still has some kick...get yourself a stang later down the road.
