Default advancing my timing

what are the benefits of advancing my timing?? I have a predator coming in, and can do this...with my mods would this add hp's? What does it exactly do anyway??

Google'd it.

In short, you are optimizing the combustion by taking the engine speed and the burn rate of the air/fuel into account. The net result is better performance.

biggest negative is you can go too far advanced and cause predetonation or pinging which can damage the engine. it will also cause harder starts and possible overheating problems but usually most don't go too far and have these problems. once you get the Predator, it advances the timing internally all the time and you will most likely have to set the base timing back to stock after you install it to prevent pinging and damage. and premium gas ain't cheap nowadays either. LOL

Yeah i'll have to run premium...gass prices SUCK!!!...i've read that the predator will not let you over adjust the timing though...so I won't have to worry about over doin it will I?

Where did you read that? I really doubt that statement. If you hear it ping when you accelerate, then back it off a little until it doesn't. It's not that scary.

My timing was retarded all to hell, and I advanced it to 14.5 degrees or so and run 93 and I had a pretty good notable change in power.
