Default starter does not turn over when car is hot

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. The car starts fine when cold but after driving the car for about 10 miles and it gets nice andhot and then you park it for a couple of minutes the car will not start. When I say doesn't start, I mean it doesn't even turn over. If you leave it set there for about ten minutes or so, itstarts right up.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the starter is getting too hot and needs to cool down. Goes out on overload.
Do you have L/T headers?

A weak battery can cause those symptoms as well. A cold engine is easier to crank as tolerences are looser.

If it a carbed car, It could be vapor lock. Make sure its not running lean. This used to happen a lot with the cars from the 70`s/mid 80`s

sounds like a starter prob for sure, odly enough my Chevelle and El-Caminog had this problem all of the time, and even with new starters.

I happen to have a new starter from an 03' Mach1 for sale if your interested. It has about 10 starts on it and then thats it. It was a ford test car and wrecked in the rear. I got the front half, I also have other parts too.

I would strongly suggest a new starter from a store with a warenty though, just for that purpose, so go get a store bought one to be safe
