Default dummy question

alright guys i'll admit it im not a ford guy but i did buy a 89 stang a few months back and it has the 2.3 in it and im putting a 351 in 'er. i was just wondering what the difference between a 7.5 and a 8.8 was physically so i can pull one? is it only the guts or the housing too?
thanx

7.5 rear end breaks under racing loads and the 8.8 dont. should have no problem it is a common task.
