console swap?

console swap?
Im looking into 96-98 cobras, so ill be getting the old style console. i really like the 01+ style better(not to mention better cupholders). how hard would it be to swapout? not the whole thing, just the lower part. would the colors match? (say, black on a 97 same as what on 01+?)
