Let's see how sharp the members of this site are. Read CAREFULLY. My plan is to geta "Performance Automatics" AOD from Late Model and a B&M "Hammer" shifter. Now this is where it gets tricky. Hammer hasTWO shifter model numbers listed... one for years '82-'86 and onefor years '87-'93. So i call L/M and ask which model year shifter I should get since the factory cable is used to connect the shifter and tranny... they say I need the '87-'93 shifter. Then I ask them why it matters since the shifter cable they sell is the same for years '86-'93. The guy is stumped!!! So I call B&M (the place selling the Hammer shifter) and ask which model # shifter I need for an '87 AOD using an '86-'93 shifter cable. He is stumped too!!!! So he tells me to call back on Monday and ask for Brian who will be able to help me better. Am I missing something here? The tranny people tell me it's an '87-'93 AOD... the cable is good for years '86-'93... WHY ARE THERE TWO DIFFERENT SHIFTERS LISTED and which one is going to work. There should be only one shifter listed that will work on years '86-'93 since there is only one cable that is used. I will be amazed ifany of you guyscan answer this question before I talk with Brian on Monday. LOL.
