Hi!

I am going to be replacing my car's top soon too so I would like to know from whom did you order it and did you replace the whole thing? Some manufacturers sell just sections.

There are some websites that give you instructions on how to replace the top. Check these websites out: www.fordsunlimited.com/tech/convertible.htm or www.topsonline.com

I haven't been to either for a while.

i ordered mine off of ebay from a seller called its_4_my_car or something like that, i got the top, the glass window, and all new padding all for like $360, including shipping. I am in the process now of putting it on, so far, all we have done was take the old one off, it doesnt look too hard to put on, just a ton of staples in it. we worked on it for about 3 1/2 hours yesterday and probably 2 hours were on pulling out staples. haha. we found some instructions for general top installation on another website (ill try to find it and post it). we are ordering the headliner now, because it is really faded and i didnt realize it, so we are going to go ahead and replace it while we have the top off. I will tell you how it goes when we get it done, we should be done with it probably thursday.

I have been quoted $900+ to replace a top for a mustang. From reading your posting and others, I guess the most expensive thing about replacing a top is the labor because it take a long time.

What kind of material did you pick for your vehicle?

Let me know how it turns out. I'm in need of a top replacement, and I've been trying to scrape together the runds to have it done. I was under the impression there was some amount of talent that went along with installing one. Prices I've seen range upwards of $1500 for a good top.

i got quoted a price of about $700 to replace it. I ordered the sailcloth vynil top off ebay. it seems to be a pretty strong top, but it is a darker tan than the stock top, they are both supposed to be parchment though.

I have called around a few places locally and they have quoted me $900+ and then they said for that price it's all in a kit. I don't believe it at all after all the research I have found.

If you go on the internet and look for "convertible tops" there are quite a few places that sell them. The tops are sold in sections. The actual outside top, the headliner, and the part that holds the glass. There may be more, I can't remember. I believe you can just buy the part that you need to replace.

I probably will do the exterior only because the headliner looks good and the well liner looks ok too. I will have a professional look at it because I don't know a whole lot about canvas tops.
