Default Parking Brake

I was applying my parking brake on Saturday, when I was pulling it up I heard a snap or pop and it went almost all the way up. I was thinking s**t, I f**ked up the parking brake now the car will never move. When I tried to release the brake it went down fine and the brake light went off. It drives okay as well. So what up with that?!?!?

Default Parking Brake

Mine did the same thing when it was new (2000 GT). Come to find out there was a recall on the parking brake. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it no prob.
