Default Whining Noise

When I make turns in my car, a whining noise comes from the front end. I immediately assumed PS. I have been told it could be the PS Pump, but i have also heard that the steering would be hard to turn if the pump were bad. could it be something else?

what year car, mileage, etc??

anyways my pump went bad and the steering made a whining noise, but wasn't so hard to turn. i just didn't like the noise so for $45 i popped off the old pump and put a new one on.

Ya its the pump for sure, the 94-04 Models tend to have that problem with whining. Supposedly its from the pump overheating. I have heard pleanty of 79-93 Models with the same pump song. Its a common Ford thing But its no big deal for driving.

make sure to rent a puller because the hardest part of the whole job is removing the pulley on the power steering pump. after that it is three bolts slide the old one out and put the new one in. and use grease on the shaft of the new power steering pump when you are pressing the pulley back on it will make it much easier and the pulley won't bind on the shaft.

if you have any questions please feel free to pm me because i just did this like three weeks and i'm happy to give you any advice
