Default engine hoist question

well, i got an engine hoist from school so i can pull the 351W out of the thunderbird and put it in the stang over break. well, i assembled it and tried to extend the cylinder, but it wont budge. the plug in the bottom is tight and i am going the entire range of motion of the handle. i think it is low on fluid. does anyone know how to fill the cylinder with hydraulic fluid?

should be a rubber plg on the housing about half way up may be painted the same color pull it out and fil to overflow, or a claerly marked fill hole. You can also pull the bleeder valve out and force the fluid in that way and repalc eit quickly. GOOD LUCK.

I know on my cylinder, you unscrew the release valve and fill it through there. My hoist is a Bluebird that's about 15 years old, so your cylinder might be different.
