Default Old classic with new engine

Hi everyone, I've always been a fan of the mustang. I especailly love the old ones. Can some please tell me if it is possible or legal to buy an old mustang say 1969 and replace the engine with a newer engine from 2000 mustang. I like the looks of the one mustang but i rather have a newer engine that will save a little gas and is more reliable.

THanks

with enough money, anything is possible. why ruin a classic though. you can restore or rebuild a muscle stang and it will be as reliable and a 69 is one of the most powerful made. id say the strongest is the 69 boss 429.

sure it's legal to swap engines but you might want to consider going with a later year 5.0 in that '69 as the mod motor is a lttle wide and might be a pain to fit into the tight confines of the '69 engine compartment. theres a company on the west coast that makes kits to do swaps like you are thinking about, Westech ngineering or something like that is the name I tend to remember. try google to find them.

your right. i've seen a lot of 65-68 fastbacks with the 03 cobra crate motor. the good thing is i've seen them on e-bay for as little as $5,500 with only 500 miles on them.

installing an 03 cobra engine in a 69 stang will cost you the same if not more than installing a small block ford motor SUPERCHARGED and making MORE power than the 390 horse mod motor. that mod motor runs the eaton supercharger which cranks out 390, a small block ford stroked to 331 and a nice fat kenne bell or turbo kit will crank out 700-800 HP for the same price. About 7-10 grand of worthwhile modifications will have to be put into the 69 to drop the eaton blown mod motor. i say go with the 302, arent those 69s set up for the 289s which are essentially destroked 302s?
