i assume u mean the difference between a cleveland and a windsor. well since u have to ask which one to build i wouldnt do a cleveland. its a quite complicated motor.

Find you one of the last year truck windsors. For what it sounds like you want to do, it would be one of the best. Its also one ofthe only roller blocks for 351's so you can keep running a roller cam. Clevelands are just not plentiful enough to do what youre doing, IMO.

the windsor is a good motor to build its cheap, compared to most motors, and its reliable and u can make **** loads of power with them. the cleve is for a more experienced builder and has more potential b/c of the heads.

whichever one can get me the power i need for the almighty is the one i need. i am new to building a stang not building cars. i am a mechanic so difficulty is no problem for me and i have all the time in the world to waste on it. but for the windsor are parts readily available? plus alcohol can always ease the project being put together.[sm=alcoholic.gif]

Nothing beats a cleveland. If you build a Windsor anda Cleveland the same way the Cleveland will always win out, a 4V that is. NO windsor out there has heads that come even close to the 4V heads. Clevelands are rev hungry engines and produce awesome torque. People have trouble building them because they dont understand for those massive heads to work right they needs revs revs revs!

The huge runner diameter causes slower velocity and that is why rpms are so important. Building a Cleveland with an 8500rpm redline on a street car is no big deal and the canted valves are a great design feature to improve that.

There are probably going to be some people that wont agree with me and thats fine.

There are aluminum 4V, 3V and 2V heads that you can buy now from such companies as AFD and CHI in australia. AFD has a dealer in oregon that is on Ebay. They usually run $1200, there was a sale three weeks ago to get a set of 4V heads for $700!!! That sale is over now though. AFD's 4V heads can produce 680hp on a NA engine. BTW the heads are bare when you buy them, you have an option to pay more for assembled heads.

You can also combine a Windsor block and put cleveland heads on it. CHI offers a Clevor intake manifold for their 3V heads.

The windsor by itself is and impressive engine but ultimatly it just doesnt come close to the Clevelands big 4V heads.

You can also make the cleveland fuel injected with either a CHI and Holley combo, CHI FI system or ULTRAFLOW with something like a 100mm throttle body. All are australian based items and some pantera. The Aussies didnt give up on the Cleveland because they werent under such strick smog regulations.

yeah i would really like to go with fuel injection no matter what it takes because carbs are not my thing they are a little to stressing in my opinion...fuel injectionseems easier to tune

Just depends on where you come from I guess. You can have the Cleveland Fuel Injected.

Here is the Cleveland UltraFlow
