made it to suspension
Ok my car is ready for suspension have a couple of Q's.
heres the set up so far, engine heavy 351 block, body 87lx No PS, AC, subframe connectors well thats it, im planning to get a complete tubular front end, with coilovers to save about 60lbs, i have, not installed a set of granatelli upper and lower double adj. rear control arms. i need help with spring rate and for the front and rear, i will not use coilovers on the rear.
1) with the 351 block and tubular front end what spring rate shuold i run?
2) do i need to preload the rear pinion angle, how much?
3) do i need a pinion nub?
4) what shocks are best in the front for really hard lauches, car will do wheelies?
5) what shocks are best for rear?
ive done alot of desert racing so i know who makes really nice shocks but i dont have a clue of what im looking for as far as travel and dampning for a drag setup.
Thank you for your time.

if the car is going to be race only, I would recommend you go with 90/10 front struts, Competition Engineering makes some good ones and I use them on mine. can't comment much on spring rates though. adjustable rear shocks would also be a plus so you can dial the car in to the track. I'm sure you can get some help from the makers of the coilovers you plan to buy, but you will probably need to supply them with the current weight distribution on the front and rear ends from front to back and side to side also. maybe not. a good set of rear lower control arms and adjustable uppers would also be required to get the best launch and this will enable you to adjust the pinion angle also. I've read that about 2 degrees nose down is a good starting point. In addition to Steeda, Kenny Brown makes a lot of suspension parts and could probably offet some technical help too.
