vert help please
i think that your best way to go on this one is to take it to a ford dealership, or someone who specializes in vert tops and let them check you out. Im not positive if they are hydraulic or not, but i replaced my top a couple weeks ago and dont remember seeing any hydraulic cylinders anywhere. i know that they have motors, and i dont know if hydraulic systems have motors or if they just hook to a power source. that is why i say go somewhere where they actually know what they are doing.
I have a '90 convertible. Mine has hydraulic cylinders that actuate the top. For me, in order to access the motor, I go into the trunk and take out the panel at the back of the trunk and it is sitting right there. Might as well check and see if it is the same. If you find the motor, you should be able to tell if it has lines for hydraulic fluid going to it.
Mine stopped working a while back. It wouldnt even try to move. So i just took the motor apart a bit and put it back together and its been working for about a year now. I think there was just some sand in there.

Do you hear anything when you try to activate the top up or down? If you hear nothing first try simple things. like a fuse. Also there is a relay for the motor. check if it is getting power when you press the switch up/down. If you dont hear a whine from the motor then dont bother checking if the hydrolic fluid is full, if it is hydrolic which it should be....
goodluck!!
