Default Shortening Antenna

I want to do this to my old antenna so that I can repaint it and install it on the Girlfriends mustang and see how it turns out. But I cant seem to get the ball of the end. Is there some sort of trick to it, or am I being too gentle?

You're being too gentle

Also it might help if you HEAT the ball with a torch or something, then give it a good tug with some pliers. You may need to squirt some paint on it after you've re-installed it so it looks factory again

yeah. just get a pair of pliers and yank it off. then you can cut off however much you want gone and glue that ball back on the end. then you can just put a coat of black spraypaint on it and call it a day. i cut mine in half to make it even with the roofline. not sure how short you want it. its all up to you. but yeah, you must be being too gentle with it.

I cut mine at 14.5" and used a miniature toggle switch cap on the end. Get the cap at radio shack in dif colors. I painted it black with bumper paint. At work now so no pic available.
