Default Got my windows tinted, big mis

Damn,

I got my windows tinted they look good.. *BUT* the 02 mustang rear windows have this black dot pattern painted on the glass and the tint can not stick to the glass right up against the black dots so you see a border around each dot and it leaves this ugly gradient on the top of the window..

I see now other people have beaten this problem by scraping off the black dots and then after doing that apply the tint..

My installer did not do that.. what should I do i cant live with the rear tint looking so s**tty!

Also has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? what did you do?<edited><editID>Mustangered</editID><editDate>37855.676099537</editDate></edited>

i have a 95 stang and i have 5% tint with no problems.

i would call the company that instaled it and say you want it fixed they should fix it for little or no charge.

I'd go back to the tint company. Ask them if they want their name associated with a tint job that looks like ***. But really... you asked for tint, you got tint. Would you have complained had the installer charged you for an extra hour or two to remove the dots? IMHO he should have asked you about it before hand.
Offer to pay for materials or something, since the fault lies with both of you (you for not specifying, him for not asking).

i would take it back and just ask for them to redo it and to do it right. if they had done tinting before then they would have known what happens when you go over the dots.

I have the same problem on mine. People actually complement it and ask how I did it <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">

The black strip is a great idea, on my '02 I just left the top untinted, thats the way all the window tinters here in Valdosta are doing it anyways. I don't care for the look but Oh well...</P>

Hey guys I know exactly what your talking about...I got my windows tinted this weekend and they didn't even try to tint the dots (the dots are called the matrix)... The tint wont stick to it and it will look like crap if you try...The place that did mine actually has you come back after 5 days (gives the tint time to totally dry and adhere) and they just stick on a black vinyl strip on the inside to totally black out the back window....you cant see out the vinyl but its too high in the window to even make a difference....I suggest to you to find a place that makes custom window graphics as they will have this vinyl and you could just cut and remove the tint on the matrix and apply the vinyl strip.
