Default Laws in the states...

I'm just confused...as to why specific states have so many laws about cars...like I know here in Canada (Ontario) we can't have really dark tint or a loud exhaust but I believe everything else is okay, but like I just read a thread about a certain taillight being illegal? wth! It's just a taillight as long as it works for brake, parking, reverse and turning..why does it matter.

I understand CAD about the tint cuz cops might not be able to see what you are doing or whatever and loud exhaust cause well its a nusiance. (sometimes ) I know there is probably laws I am missing about Canada...but yeah

It just seems silly to me...why would companies make these products if they were illegal :|?
