Default questions on when 2 shift

I was takin a good look at my dyno sheets and what power I was making at certain rpms..and my peak hp comes at 5000rpm makin 271rwhp and then it starts to drop...so heres my question...what rpm should I b shifting at then when I race..as of now I"ve always shifter at 6k but now I"m not sure...

Idk how much my rpms drop w/ my 3.73's when I go thro the gears racing..but I was thinking that I should shift at like 5500 rpm so that way it drops and I got just as much power as if I brang it all the way up 2 6k...I wish I could post the dyno sheet but cant..so if any of u guys can help me out it b appreciated..

Most people find shifting the car at 5700rpm has yielded the best results. The curve for the motor is starts to drop right where you say it does. 5700 rpm is just a few from that point.

But one special note. Factory tachs are slow to respond. Shifting at 5700rpm on the tach typically is about 6000rpm on the motor.

You wanna keep each gear in the best AVERAGE powerband. So. its alittle different for each gear. For a stock cammed 99+ it seems that shifting at 5700 to 2nd, 5600 to 3rd, and 5500 to 4th would yield the best results - but I've never tested this.

I shift my basically stock engine at about 5,300 rpm for the best track times with my three speed manally shifted AOD tranny.
