depends 4.10 are good most for track application but 3.73's are a good allover application

The '05+ Stangs come with 3.55's from the factory, which gives them an overall ratio similar to the New Edge's 3.27:1 gears, given the different tire sizes utilized for each model.

4.10's are pretty popular on the New Edge, and 3.73's are a good all around choice for these models.

For the 05+ Stang, a 4.10 would be the good all around choice, while 4.30's would be a bit more aggressive.

You ask what gears are 'best'. Best for what application? 3.73's are a great gear ratio as stated on the other posts. I had them in my 88 LX Auto....

3.73's are a useless upgrade from 3.55's....

i completly agree.

do NOT get the 3.73 on a newer mustang, 4.10s all the way

if your feeling a lil on the edge and want to go all out, get the 4.30s

personaly, i have 4.10s and LOVE them, but soon you will get usta them and wish you had 4.30s!
CON: less traction and a LITTLE bit less gas mileage.

it dont matter edge vs s197 etc, they have a shorter OD then the edges and are geared similar to the t3650 in 1-4

autos 4.10s 5 speed 4.30s, the 4.6s are also SOHC motors, not pushrod OHC motors liek the old 5.0s so thats comparing apples to oranges, the 5R55 tranny has a 5th geasr or .75, the old 4R70Ws have a .7 5th
