i recently purchased a 87 5.0 i was hoping that some one could help me out i am looking to do some engine work i was hoping some one new of the cheapest way to get more horse power and torque with out doing major engine work i am also looking for a five speed trans any help is appreciated

 

If its still got the stock exhaust ditch it. You want a full 2 1/2" exhaust from the headers back, stock is only 2 1/4". This includes the H-pipe, get a hi-flo piece or an off-road, check your emissions requirements first.Dont forget aftermarket mufflers and headers. All thatadds 'some' hp and tq plus it soundsmeaner as well.Its not a lot but its a start.

Get a complete tuneup and a KnN (i went back to stock and dont notice a diff.). Bump the timing a bit...if it starts to ping back off till it stops. Mine is set around 12-13 and runs on nothing but 92-93. Itll ping on 87.

As for engine mods ill leave that to the those thatve done it.
