Default MORE electri problems

Lately ive been having electric problems with my 86 gt. At first the problem was only in my wipers, radio, and gauges, but now it is to the point that i can not even start my car. The car has power.. like the interior lights go on when i open the door but the only way to have power running through my ignition i have to push up on the steering wheel and pull down on the key ignition.. and as soon as i let go the car dies and im stuck again. Im assuming its something in the column but i have no clue where to start. Any help would be great.

could be the ignition switch. you know when you turn the key forward to crank the motor? well our aerostar has problems with the switch. some times when you crank the motor the switch doesnt pop back all the way and non of the electrical things will work

...just a thought

lol. Remove youre plastics around youre column. Thats all. Then see if you got broken wires. If so fix that... Its pretty simple.

well ive already done that and i didnt see any broken wires or anything but there is a white plastic piece on the right side of the column that is loose... i pushed up on it and it did work but as soon as i let go it shut off again... am i supposed to just zip tie it up there or what cuz i didnt really see a way to take it off unless i REALLY pull apart the rest of the column... and i think i have to pull off the steering and sh*t for that
