Default 01 Cobra vs 07 GT

I know yall probably hate these posts, but my dad mentioned something to me last night. We are very close to sealing the deal on a beautiful 01 Cobra(babied w/ 9800miles), but he thought MAYBE we should just get a brand new GT so i can build my credit and have a new car. Problem is i would be paying the car off forever and wouldng get to start modding it for a while and it just overall costs more. The cobra is very nice, probably about 10gs less, and i could start modding it soon. Now the thing is its 6 years older, but at the same time its a cobra. Im not sure if i should look into it or what. Id be happy with the cobra, but i was thinking it might be hard to sell about 4-5years down the road. Then i keep thinking a GT is a GT and a cobra is a cobra. My plans are to supercharge it and put wheels and all, but im not sure what to do. This is a lot of money and a huge commitment for me.

Default RE: 01 Cobra vs 07 GT

For me there'd be no question, but I own a 15-year-old BMW E30 vert and a 16-year-old BMW E30 sedan, both of which are still very marketable. Buy the Cobra. I think it looks better than the 07 too. 9800 miles is very low btw. Are you planning on putting a lot of miles on it? If not, I'd think there'd certainly be a market for a low mileage Cobra in five years when you plan to sell it. Depending on what state you live in, licensing it will cost less too.

And there are other ways to build your credit besides buying an expensive new car.
