Friction Point Adjustment
I just purchased a 2000 Mustang GT 5 speed. The friction point is high like 3/4 out on the clutch. I would prefer the friction point to be between 1/4 and 1/2 way out. Is there a way to adjust the friction point? Is there a reason why I should not adjust it?
The car comes stock with a self-adjusting plastic quadrant. To make sure it is set right, put your foot behind the pedal and pull outward toward you with some pressure. Then push the pedal to the floor. That should adjust it, although it may make no difference. From the factory there is no user-adjustability to the clutch, unless an adjustable clutch cable was installed, or/and a firewall adjuster was installed. To determine if you have a firewall adjuster, you simply look in your engine bay, at the firewall on your driver side and you will see where the clutch cable goes through the firewall. If there is a metal **** there, you have a firewall adjuster. If not, then that adjustability is out, so next you can check if you have an adjustable clutch cable. Simply jack up the car and get under the transmission. You will see an inspection cover that is held on by one bolt. Remove this cover and you will see the clutch cable connected to the clutch fork. If you seethatthe cable is threaded and has two nuts on it where itconnects to the clutch fork, then it is adjustable. Else, you have no adjustability.
You can check these things and go from there. Hope that made sense.

I found the problem is that the quadrant is already adjusted as far as it will go. What needs to be done/replaced at this point? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
